The Star of the Magi
"Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East, and have come to worship Him." -- Matthew 2:2 The Star of the Magi is a practice that flows, in part, from the esoteric Christian tradition. It is both a meditation and a state of mystical awareness; and is based on a channelled text. It works to produce an "Epiphany of Light" – that is, awaken the eternal, innocent Divine Consciousness, symbolized as the Christ Child – and heralded and transmitted by the Star of the Magi. As a Christ-centered practice, this particular meditation works by attuning our consciousness to the Living Presence of Jesus. This takes the form of a gentle yogic technique that uses visualization and recitation of the Name of Light. In this way, we transcend our ordinary state of consciousness and gradually return to the One in an easy, natural way. It is easy because the meditator doesn't strain to concentrate or control the mind in some way. It relies instead on Jesus to carry the cross, as it were. As you can tell from the language used here, this work is an expression of the Christ mystery. And while it is not at all necessary to be a Christian to learn it, you do have to feel a spiritual affinity for Jesus. |
If you do, then you know.
Naturally, the practice makes use of biblical imagery and language. This symbolism is interpreted in an esoteric way. I like to explain the meditation as a method of contemplative prayer animated by the energetic transmission that I received in a system of meditative yoga (in which Jesus is revered as the originator and Master); and to which I was initiated during my travels in India. Suffice it to say, the yogi-Christ-of-India phenomenon (whether taken literally or as a mythopoetic device) is important for contextualising the meditation. However, after some years of working with this spiritual current, I was given a sign to begin sharing it more widely on Epiphany 2023. Whether or not you accept my framing is not at all important. I invite you to experience the practice on its own terms. Repeatedly, the guidance I have received from the source of the practice has been "Direct revelation is the most important. Set aside preconceptions, beliefs, creed or dogmas". I invite you to approach Jesus and His Star in the East and discover what the experience holds for you. |
How does it work?
The instruction is free of charge. Anyone is welcome; although I have a limited number of slots available any given month. We should set up a short (free) call to see if it is the right thing for you, however. And to get to know each other a little better (if you are not already a student or client of mine). You will also be given a preliminary technique to practice until the training day to prepare. The instruction takes the form of a 80 minute one-on-one session on zoom, or in person, (if you are in Amsterdam). During this session I will teach the technique; including the prayers and posture. We will meditate together, at which time an inner transmission happens. After meditation, there will be fine-tuning of the technique and discussion. Once learned, you are encouraged to meditate for about 25 minutes a day. Like any meditation or prayer practice, regularity is what produces results. The Star of the Magi is a non-dogmatic, non-denominational way of connecting with the gentle, transforming essence of Jesus. The guidance is that a direct experience of the Epiphany of Light is a mystery anyone can experience. My prayerful intent is to emerge Christ Consciousness in our collective soul. There are no scriptural or moral prerequisites, dictates, creeds, doctrines or preconditions. It is shared with Brotherly Love. |
The Inner Aspect
After practicing the Star of the Magi regularly for certain period of time, students are eligible to receive the inner aspect. This takes the form of a simple in-person ceremony during which the channelled text is shared and its meaning taught, and the student is initiated into the inner heart of the work. This will give one the ability teach and to transmit the practice to others, energetically.
